COLINET Proposes “Filipiniana Online” Project to NCCA

The Cotabato Libraries and Information Network (COLINET) has formally submitted a project proposal to the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) for possible implementation in 2026. Titled “Filipiniana Online,” the proposed initiative aims to bridge cultural heritage and digital innovation by assessing the current digitization practices among COLINET member libraries and establishing a centralized platform for the digitization and online access of Filipiniana resources.

The project seeks to preserve, protect, and promote Filipino cultural heritage through the use of modern technology—ensuring that vital Filipiniana materials are accessible to scholars, students, and the general public in the digital age. It aligns with both national cultural development goals and international trends in heritage preservation and open access.

Spearheaded by Dr. Anita C. Sornito, former COLINET President, the project team includes Prof. Susan S. Martinez, Engr. Melecio A. Cordero, Jr., Prof. Catherine C. Daffon, and Ms. Dieleta D. Garcia, RL—all committed to advancing the role of libraries in cultural preservation and information access.
